Who is Robert Hawkins?
Robert Hawkins spent most of his life pursuing music. Now, his joy comes from serving the Lord in any and every capacity of life. He is steadfast and sold out to God and his eyes are focused on ministry and fulfilling His purpose. Hawkins dream is to produce music which ministers to the heart of God and touches the heart of people. Not what’s popular, but what delivers, what heals, what restores, music that God inhabits.
Born April 3rd, 1982 in Chicago, IL and moved to Kalamazoo, MI at the age of eight. Hawkins grew up singing and directing the choir at his local church; “Church of the Living God”. In the year of 2001, Hawkins perused his music career and started a Gospel group called “Unified Praise”, where they traveled across the country spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ through song. With an audacious mindset and passion for Music Ministry, in 2004 “Robert Hawkins and Unified Praise” accomplished their debut live recording in Kalamazoo, MI. Shortly after, Robert and Unified Praise was privileged to share the stage with some of the top Gospel Artist such as, Tye Tribbett, Ki Ki Sheard, and Rance Allen, just to name a few. In addition, made an appearance on Dr. Bobby Jones Gospel Impact Network.
Later, Hawkins accepted an invitation to travel and perform background vocals for various Gospel Artist: Leandria Johnson, Ashford Sandars, Jonathan Dunn, Joshua Rogers, and Jon Plair just to name a few. As he continued serving in the background God has opened many doors on his behalf allowing him to minister in song at churches worldwide. Hawkins has made appearances on BET’s Bobby Jones Gospel, TBN “Praise the Lord”, Bishop Bloomer and The Lexi show on “The Word Network”.
This Chicago native with a diverse and pristine vocal style took another step forward, co-produced and released his debut single “Happy” on his Birthday April 3rd 2016 produced by Reginald Strong Jr. Robert is truly grateful and appreciative of this opportunity in comparison of his first recording in 2004 that wasn’t successful. Robert Says “This song “Happy” means something new now because of the struggles, pain, and adversity I faced for 12 long years and God came out of nowhere and made provisions for me to record and release this song. I truly have several reasons to be “Happy”.
His vocal aptitude is evident. “I’m inspired to perform when times are rough, whether it’s from my own life experiences or someone else’s. “In these moments, I love to minister because it’s an outlet and source for leaving an everlasting impression to hurting people like myself.
One thing that Robert Hawkins desires, is to keep the message of Christ on display more than the brand of the artist. “Without God, we can’t do anything.
